Certain international institutions become instruments of neocolonialism: Researcher

Dec. 15/2021 / ENA / Some international institutions are becoming instruments to realize the neocolonialism attempted by some Western countries, said researcher from the African Leadership Excellence Academy, Dr Haile Muluken.

In an exclusive interview with ENA, Haile said the former colonialists are now trying to exploit the African economy through institutional rules operating internationally.

In this regard, certain international institutions are becoming their instruments, he added.

“It is becoming clear that these institutions are engaged in discrediting and eliminating the leaders of countries that some Westerners do not want,” said the researcher.

Recalling the United Nations Commission on War Crimes which refused to accept Ethiopia’s allegations against fascist Italy, today the International Criminal Court (ICC), which succeeds this organization, continues to operate effectively. unfair way because it is established exclusively for Africans.

Ethiopia is not a member of the International Criminal Court, he said, urging other member states to withdraw from the ICC.

Dr Haile expressed his hope that Ethiopia would continue to be a role model for black people in defending their independence, despite pressure from some colonial powers backed by the West.

Africa has the potential to use its resources to shift the balance of power in the world, Haile said, adding that for this to happen, African academics must think at the continental level.

The researcher said Africa must focus on capacity building to bring its people closer to unity and solidarity, stressing the need to strengthen the Pan-Africanist movement in order to achieve the benefits it deserves at the international level. .

Africa must fight for a permanent seat on the Security Council, he said, in this regard he added that the UN Security Council should consider itself.

He also said Ethiopia’s efforts to counter this unjust practice should be supported by all Africans.
