Criss Angel back on stage after pandemic hiatus

The Kats! Office at this writing is the Luxor Sports Book, which is actually at the main entrance to the Luxor Theater. I just saw a media preview of “America’s Got Talent: Live! The Vegas version of the NBC contest show premiered.

Vegas performers Deadly Games, Preacher Lawson, Brandon Leake, Light Balance, Kodi Lee and Jimmie herrod with The silhouettes put on a 30 minute sample of the live show. Current champion Justin Tavella, Duo transcend and The seers are in the show’s original cast but did not preview.

We can report that one of these aforementioned acts intends to occur in the arts district. Not billed. In the street. More to reveal.

More from this scene and elsewhere:

Angel is back

The headliner of Planet Hollywood Criss angel was canceled after testing positive for COVID, missing all performances from Oct. 27 upon his return on Wednesday night.

As the magical man “Mindfreak” said last Thursday, “I’m fantastic. I’m 100 percent looking forward to getting back on stage ASAP. It’s easy to see why. ‘Angel has reportedly sold steadily since returning from vacation this summer.

And those who saw Angel’s 100-foot straitjacket slip away during the Raiders-Bears game at Allegiant Stadium on October 10 are still talking about that stunt. Unbelievable.

George Thorogood and the Destroyers The return of the Fremont Street Experience Downtown Rocks free concert series wraps up on Saturday. The group takes over the 3rd Street Stage at 9 p.m.

The career of Thorogood, 71, is linked to the Rolling stones, rocking the Allegiant Stadium on Saturday night. Thorogood was one of the opening bands for the Stones on their “Tattoo You” tour in 1981. The J. Geils Band and an aspiring talent called Prince also opened this tour.

Marquee match

Marquee Nightclub at the Cosmopolitan summons circus action with “The Greatest Show on Earth” which opens Sunday at 10pm.

The show borrows from the slogan long used by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

We have practitioners such as contortionist, fire-eater, magician, ballet dancer, clown, mime (because mime is money) and gypsy. A leader is at the helm, orchestrating (we think) the club’s bottle service. Everyone is dressed in circus inspired costumes, with a nightclub touch.

Sunday’s DJ headliner is Florida, followed by Lil jon (November 14) and Mustard (21 November). The club offers free entry to locals and the party goes on until “late”. Plan accordingly.

Lasso this crowd

As an indication that business has not returned to pre-pandemic levels, “Atomic Saloon Show” has sent out a two-for-one ticket offer to residents of Nevada for the remainder of this year. Mid-capacity shows are still showing slow sales, with producers saying the slowdown coincides with the return of the mandatory mask mandate in July.

The return of international travel this month will help businesses, as will the relaxation of mask rules (safe, natch) whenever that can happen.

Elsewhere on the Strip, “Love” at Mirage would underperform when Cirque reopens in Vegas. All Cirque shows are struggling mid-week, but the Beatles production is particularly challenged. But “O” and “Mystery” remain relatively healthy.

This is Officer Bob

Season 16 Champion “So You Think You Can Dance” Bailey “Bailrok” Muñoz has been in the cast of “iLuminate” at The Strat since the show relaunched on October 8.

This is either a very devious casting or the result of a casting disguised in LED costumes while dancing in the dark.

But Muñoz played the role of Officer Bob in the creator by Miral Kotb adventurous stage show (I’ll find out why this is relevant when I see the updated production). Muñoz was also a finalist of season 5 of “AGT” and punctuated it with Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Gwen Stefani, and Will smith, and wields an evil stick.

Chesnoff’s cigar bar

David Chesnoff has taken on a myriad of high-profile cases involving famous and infamous clients during his long career as a Las Vegas attorney. The former legal partner of Oscar goodman in his pre-mayoral time, Chesnoff represented Henri Ruggs III now.

The court case does not stop Chesnoff’s entrepreneurial ventures on the Strip. The lawyer moves from the courtroom to the cigar bar on Thursday for the opening of his Eight Cigar Bar at Resorts World Las Vegas. Chesnoff and business partner Giuseppe Bravo co-host the official launch, where journalists (and former Chesnoff clients) like Mike Tyson, Instagram heroes Dan Bilzerian and poker star Phil Ivey are scheduled to hit the red carpet.

Actor Michel culditz (“Southland”, “Band of Brothers”, “The Walking Dead”) must also be in the mix, we anticipate with stogie in hand.

The 7,000 square foot venue offers a 2,200 square foot deck overlooking the Strip. The name is inspired by the lucky number 8 in Chinese culture.

Cool Hang Alert

The Sand Dollar Lounge features favorite Cool Hang items like FizzyWater, quality shows, and quality food. Pizza, in this case. Friday at 10 p.m. on Las Vegas Blues Society’s open jam returns for the first time since the pre-pandemic. It’s a shot and a half, guys. No cover. Sparkling. Pizza. Go for it.
