Cross Country: Perry’s Instrument Wins Fourth County Title

Lima – After winning his first cross country title in Allen County in grade 9, Perry’s Brady Instrument focused on winning a few more.

On Tuesday, Perry’s leading Forot Park player led from start to finish, and on his way to his fourth Allen County Invitational title, there was no doubt.

The instrument conquered a very hilly 5,000-meter course on Tuesday at Forot Park, winning a time of 16 minutes and 49.3 seconds. Isaya Johns of Shawnee was second at 17: 09.9, while Hunter Siddle of Allen East was third (17:15). Shawnee’s Noah Williams (17: 53.7) and Spencerville’s Runny Oakman (17: 55.8) closed the top five runners in 72 fields.

“This race has always meant a lot to me,” said Yingst. “I do this race as planned every year. I won the first few years of high school – the first two (Allen County races), so I figured I could win all four years. I have been waiting for this race all year. It’s a big deal that I won all four years in Allen County. This year has been a bit difficult, but today I can handle it very well. I’m really happy to win the championship for the fourth year in a row. “

Yingst took a big lead on Tuesday and was not challenged.

“Today, time has gone out the window,” Yingst said. “It was to get out in the second half (of the race) and try to get a comfortable lead and not push too hard. I was able to get out early and extend the lead. Then in the middle of the race, I could just keep it. I didn’t care about my time today. I just wanted to bring the “W” home. “

The instrument, which finished 9th in the Division III state tournament last year, is doing well this season. Yingst has not been affected this season. At Botkins last week, Yingst set a personal best of 15:41.

In the final men’s team standings on Tuesday, Shawnee claimed the decisive victory, beating Allen East 24-73, second. Bath was a very close third (74). Delphis St. Johns (86), Elida (127), Spencerville (147) and Lima Sr. (215) closed all seven teams on Tuesday.

On Tuesday’s women’s side, Shawnee won gold in the final team standings. However, the team race was much closer as Shawnee passed St. John’s 30-32. On Tuesday, Elida was the only other full women’s team. The Bulldog scored 74 points.

Shawnee Jr. Molly Stamp recorded her second title in Allen County on Tuesday, winning 21: 04.2. Her teammate Alaina Williams (21: 37.2) finished second.

The first five women’s races were closed by Ava Milligan (22: 01.9) of St. Johns, Emily Durham (22: 22) of Elida and Olivia Bockey (22: 53.6) of St. Johns.

The strain, like its opponent, took a good lead and was never challenged.

After a convincing victory on Tuesday, the stump said: “Sometimes it depends on the day so I didn’t know how everyone would be running.” “I was able to get out (to lead). I didn’t know if they were dying or if they couldn’t keep up…. I continued.”

The strain said his team had done a lot of work on the hills earlier this week.

“I worked out a ton on Thursday,” Stump said with a smile. “It helped… to get beyond them. Sometimes you can plan it, like right after a hill you can step over it and hopefully get away from people. … It worked. “

The best personal best ever for a strain is 20:11. This season, she recorded the best of the season at 8:22 p.m.

“I’m not there yet, but I hope I can get there,” said the stump.

The strain is hoping she and other team members can return to the Division II State Conference for the third year in a row.

“We want to be back there,” Stump said. “I think we can do it.”
