Fieldpiece Instruments and SkillsUSA Join Forces to Offer Scholarships Supporting HVACR Industry

ORANGE, California – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Fieldpiece Instruments, a leader in testing tools and instruments for HVACR professionals for over 30 years, today announced that it has partnered with SkillsUSA to present $ 25,000 in scholarships to to give back to the industry it serves. Through this partnership, Fieldpiece Instruments is addressing a skilled labor shortage in the HVACR industry. According to an article published by HVACR Enterprise as of September, “80,000 HVACR technician jobs are currently vacant, representing 39% of the total industry workforce. At the same time, the industry is losing around 20,000 technician jobs per year due to the retirement of an aging workforce or basic career attrition rates. ”

To apply to #MasteroftheTrade Scholarship, applicants must be members of SkillsUSA enrolled in its HVACR or General Construction programs that plan to study HVACR at the college or post-secondary level in the school year 2022-23 (high schools) or 2023-24 ( high schools). The scholarship application must include a curriculum vitae and either an essay (300 words or less) or video (1-3 minutes) answering the question: “Why did you choose a career in HVACR?” The scholarship opens December 1 and applications must be submitted by March 1, 2022. Scholarship recipients will be announced on May 16, 2022.

The scholarships will be awarded based on the merit of the application, including essay or video and proficiency in the skills of the SkillsUSA framework demonstrated in the application documents. To receive the funds, fellows must provide a letter of acceptance from their post-secondary program or their first semester tuition invoice. The funds will be distributed directly to the school.
