Listen to one of Oli Herbert’s latest solos on Lost Symphony’s new single My Last Goodbye

The orchestral metal ensemble Lost Symphony shared the music video for the latest single, My last goodbye.

Arrived as part of the collective’s third studio album Chapter III – which also hosts the extravagance Friedman / Bettencourt / Skolnick / Shaw shred Take another piece, among others – the new track features some of the latest recorded tracks from the late All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert, who died in 2018.

The track – which also features guitarists Matt LaPierre and Ryan Formato – has no shortage of noticeable shredding moments, with dizzying sweeps, sweeping turns, and quick-fire alternate picking runs delivered in abundance. Find out below.

“I wrote My last goodbye in 2004 as a tribute to my friend Jimmy who committed suicide, ”says Benny Goodman of Lost Symphony. “I’ve never used it and decided to try it again, but still haven’t taken it out.

“When I showed it to Oli, he loved the progression and we designed it as a tribute song in general, not our last goodbye. But that’s what he became. Oli wasn’t not just an amazing songwriter, performer and guitarist, but one of my favorite people whom I have had the privilege to call a friend.

On the new album as a whole, Ryan Formato adds: “Working with Lost Symphony was a dream come true. Benny Goodman was able to bring together a cast of renowned musicians from diverse backgrounds and formulated some incredibly creative songs that allowed every musician’s art to flourish.

“He provided a canvas that allowed each musician to paint with their own signature. I am honored to have been a part of the Lost Symphony experience as I was able to shred, side by side, with guitar greats such as Oli Herbert, Marty Friedman, Nuno Bettencourt, Alex Skolnick and Matt LaPierre.

Founded by brothers Benny and Brian Goodman, Lost Symphony also features bassist / guitarist Cory Paza, guitarist Kelly Kereliuk, drummer Paul Lourenco and violinist Siobhán Cronin.

Chapter III is available now via XOFF records. Check out his rather starred list of tracks below.
