Slipknot’s Michael Pfaff Injures Ankle On Tour, Shares Photos

Slipknot percussionist Michael Pfaff, better known as Tortilla Man, injured his ankle during the band’s European tour and has provided an update.

Injuries are quite common in Slipknot as the band is known for their physically intense gigs. Sid Wilson broke both heels after jumping on stage during the Mayhem Festival tour in 2008, Corey Taylor performed with a neck brace in 2016 after undergoing spinal surgery for a broken neck… the list is long…

Pfaff earned his “Knot” merit badge and, on Instagram, he posted a story (July 24) that showed his bandaged ankle leaning on an ice pack with superimposed text that read “SLIPKNOT….if you don’t Si you don’t get hurt once in a while, you probably don’t do it right. See you Tuesday, VERONA.

Following the story’s publication, Pfaff shared an image of the heavily bruised ankle with visible marks near the heel and above the ankle bone. “Ooopsy. Should have practiced,” he wrote, joining two tearful laughing emojis before confirming he’s ready to go again. “I’m fine! See you tomorrow VERONA!!!!!!!”

Pfaff first joined Slipknot in 2019 as a live musician in place of Chris Fehn, who parted ways with the band amid a legal dispute that was later dropped. At the time, his identity was a mystery, and fans were quick to dub him Tortilla Man due to his mask’s loose resemblance to a burnt tortilla. It wasn’t until March this year that the band officially confirmed that his real name was indeed Michael Pfaff, as many clever internet sleuths had already deduced.

Now he’s set to appear on his debut studio album with Slipknot as the masked troupe prepare to release the We are not your type follow The end so far September 30.

Meanwhile, Slipknot’s European leg of the Knotfest Roadshow continues with the next North American leg set to kick off in the fall. Get tickets here.
