Neha Pandey, a household name in the UAE music scene, is about to surprise her fans with her new single titled Dil Mein Baje, broadcast on 9XM in India. And this one is special because Neha marks her first-ever collaboration with famed Bollywood lyricist Shabbir Ahmed, having made her Bollywood singing debut in 2017 with humdard from the movie Dobaara.

Dil Mein Baje, which is being released, is a catchy song with a creative retro pop art feel complemented by experimental visual treats. The song is a lighthearted Shabbir tune and sells a laid-back vibe to young-at-heart audiences with its energetic, upbeat, and retro yet modern vibes.

Neha burst into the limelight nearly two decades ago after winning Zee TV’s nationwide contest in the indie pop category. Over the years, Neha has released more singles including Busy Busy, collaborated with artists from different parts of the world. She resides in the United Arab Emirates, a country that holds a “special place” in her heart. The country also inspired one of his songs, which has yet to be released.

We caught up with Neha to find out more about her new Bollywood collaboration with Shabbir and upcoming projects.

You must be excited for your next outing. Can you tell us more?

This song was one of many projects of mine that were done much earlier, even before Covid hit. And I had to wait a long time to release this one. It’s a completely different flavor; targeted youth, including those who are young at heart. Among the various elements – it has a pop art retro feel.

You collaborate with the Indian lyricist Shabbir Ahmed. Your first reaction when you put that in a bag?

I have been blessed and blessed by the Almighty to have had the opportunity to interact and work with some of the most talented and respected artists, musicians and actors in Bollywood and beyond. I’m grateful, that’s all I can say.

You have recently ventured into Arabic music, how has this experience been for you? Can we expect more Arabic songs from you in the future?

Being the first Indian woman to come up with her own Arabic song indicates my passion for Arabic arts and culture, being a non-Arabic speaking person. It was also a risk to venture into such a difficult language as Arabic and create originals. Therefore, the experience has been ecstatic, fulfilling and encouraging for me, especially with the support of my native Arabic speaking friends, listeners and fans.

I made some new compositions, including an Arabic song (another of the projects since the Covid era).

Tell us about your upcoming projects and performances?

The future is in the hands of the Almighty. Some nice surprises await you.

What is your dream collaboration in Bollywood and internationally?

My dream collaborations have been numerous. And as mentioned before too; many legendary names like Amr Diab, AR Rahman and others. I can’t name just one.

What inspires you? What drives you forward?

This miracle called “life” and its many faces inspire me. I have been inspired by many things throughout this journey of life.

Resilience, perseverance, strength and being the mother of my son Aren kept me going. My many personal losses have driven me to fight and carry on with my belief in Almighty that anything is possible if we have faith. It was the strength to keep our human values that helped me through.

Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

I see myself using my talents and growing for good causes, being empowered enough to touch lives in a positive way. I wish to bring together humanity beyond all religion, caste and creed.

How did the UAE help you become the musician you are today?

I owe the United Arab Emirates a lot for my achievements and, as I mentioned earlier, this unique and tolerant country holds a special place in my heart. It’s a country that really taught us tolerance in a divided world and inspired one of my unreleased songs.
